Joshua Cupp & Brandie Kreiner
In August of 2009, I walked up a complete stranger and asked him to be my partner on a 3 day resident advisor training canoe trip. Little did I know that two years later he would ask me to be his partner for the rest of his life.
After two years of dating, Joshua and I planned a weekend trip to celebrate our two-year anniversary in Niagara Falls. We arrived on Friday and planned to be there until Monday. We visited several places during our stay but the Secret Garden had captured Josh's attention as the place he would ask the most important question ever, “Will you marry me?” On Sunday night we enjoyed a delicious meal at the KEG restaurant before Josh asked if we could take a nice walk before our vacation ended on Monday morning. Being December, it was frigid at the Falls. The water sprayed from the Falls and it felt like ice hitting our face as every gust of wind flew past us. I was bundled up with layers and layers of clothing so I was comfortable. He carried a large rectangle gift in his hand, which sparked my curiosity.
He said it was just a small gift for our anniversary. After we walked past thousands of Christmas lights that lined the pathway we stopped at the Secret Garden and he held me for a second before turning me around and handing me the gift that he had been carrying. I sat down to open it and unwrapped a beautiful picture frame that read, “Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away”. I thought how adorable! It was then that he got down on one knee and began to say, "Baby, I love you and I want this to be the one of those moments that take your breath away. Will you marry me?” I know that he said more, however I was in utter shock. I was excited and had no idea that he had planned this. I placed my hand down and he slipped the most beautiful and perfect ring on my finger. Of course I said “Yes!”
Through all the planning process Paul Hering from Tapper's West Bloomfield has been by our side. The process of picking out my engagement ring was an easy one, says Josh. He knew exactly what he was looking for, and Paul was patient and understanding as Josh flipped through pages of and pages of rings before he found “the one”. He was able to hand pick the diamond and when he went to pick it up, it was perfect! We visited Tapper's several times looking at wedding rings for the both of us. Paul was always prepared and knew exactly what would interest us. It is so nice to walk into a jewelry store and be called by name, to feel welcome and for the staff to be interested in who we are as people.
Last week, Paul personally called us to tell us about a bridal event that he knew would interest us. We were able to look at hundreds of rings until Josh found his perfect band. I also found mine. They worked with us so that we could get the rings we wanted and that was still in our budget. He was able to accommodate both Josh and I. We were able to get our bridal party of 20, great gifts still within our budget. If it were not for Paul at Tapper's I would not have been able to get my dream ring, Josh would not have been able to get his perfect wedding band, and we would not have been able to purchase such nice gifts for some of the more important people in our lives. I personally want to thank everyone at Tapper's and I cannot wait to continue to purchase all of my jewelry at a place that I feel that I can come to and feel always welcome.
