Our Buyers Are Trained and Experienced Gemologists

Many people don’t realize the sheer value of those heirlooms they’ve had tucked away for years. An old, tarnished watch could be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Whether it’s an old watch, that diamond bracelet that’s been in your jewelry box for a decade, estate jewelry from a deceased relative, gold rings, or broken chains, we’re here to help.

Letting Go

Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry locations throughout the Detroit area offer gold & estate jewelry buying services to anyone with jewelry, watches, gemstones, or precious metal items to sell.

Valuing Your Timepiece

There are a number of factors that go into valuing your heirloom watch or other timepiece. These include the demand and desirability of certain models and brands as well as:

  • Precious metals and materials in the watch (gold, platinum, silver, etc.)
  • Condition of the exterior and the inner workings
  • The kind and condition of the band, whether it’s a bracelet, a strap, or links
  • The kind of movement it uses (quartz, manual, automatic)
  • Special features and complexities (moon phase, perpetual calendar, power reserve)

Tapper's buys all types of precious metal, jewelry, and fine timepieces, including:

Estate and Vintage Jewelry

These pieces are unique and valuable due not only to the precious metals and stones they contain, but the history, design, and craftsmanship behind them. This especially applies to those pieces that are original and signed or those which have historic significance due to their design, brand, or legacy, and we are always interested in reviewing these items for potential purchase.

Gold, Silver, and Platinum

We purchase all forms of precious metals, from gold coins to chains, necklaces, rings, charms, bands, earrings, bracelets, and bangles. Even if your jewelry is broken, we may still be interested in the value of the metal.

Gold and Silver Coins

There are many dealers who buy and sell coins, but Tapper’s pays a high percentage to the gold spot market. We purchase the South African Krugerkrand, the Canadian Maple Leaf, the U.S. Gold Eagle, and the Chinese Gold Panda. Silver, too, is valuable with the market skyrocketing for this precious metal. The U.S. silver dime, quarter, half-dollar, and dollar coins comprised of 90% silver were produced pre-1964, and we pay a strong trade value for these coins.

High-End Watches

Tapper’s is one of the largest buyers of pre-owned timepieces in Michigan, with decades of experience behind us. We purchase Rolex, Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, Piaget, Patek Philippe, and many other makes and models of watches.

Precious Stones and Gems

We are always interested in high-quality precious gems and stones. Again, even if a setting is broken, we can often extract the gemstones at no cost to you.

Whether they are Produtis Artisiques de Métaux Précieux (PAMP), Credit Suisse, or Johnson Matthey gold bars, we are very active in the field of gold and silver bullion sales and buying.

We are particularly interested in diamonds starting at 0.50 carat, regardless of their cut or shape. Certified or uncertified, loose or mounted, we are happy to evaluate them. We are especially interested in diamonds of 3 carats and higher, or those of unusual and “fancy” color profiles. Many diamonds such as those in eternity necklaces or larger studs have special value that can be unlocked.

We are also interested in buying a variety of other heirloom jewelry and collectible items which are often made of gold or sterling silver and may be as decorative as fine jewelry from the period. These include:

  • Cosmetic cases and compacts
  • Cuff links
  • Money clips
  • Pocket watches
  • Small mirrors
  • Small handbags and clutchess
  • Opera glasses (lorgnettes)
  • Lighters
  • Pen and pencil sets
