In general, no we do not purchase gold-filled nor gold-plated items. There are a few rare circumstances when a gold-filled or gold-plated item has significant historical significance and in those situations, we will most likely be interested in purchasing those items.
We love buying sterling silver silverware sets, sterling silver platters, sterling silver pitchers, sterling silver serving pieces, sterling silver candle sticks, and basically anything else that is sterling silver. You should know that many sterling silver housewares have some type of wax or resin filler to intentionally increase the weight of the item and when we purchase the items we are required to deduct the weight of these filler items. When purchasing sterling silver housewares, we are only interested in the value of the sterling silver itself and not the utilitarian value of the item. Please note that we DO NOT BUY silverware that is either made of stainless steel or silver-plate.
Yes, we purchase natural-mined diamonds. We will evaluate your diamond during our consultation. If you have a certified diamond, please include your certification or appraisal. We are very interested in buying most diamonds, but please be aware that there are certain diamonds that either due to current market factors, or our current inventory position that would prevent us from making an offer to purchase. In addition, when bringing in a piece of jewelry with several small diamonds set in the piece, it is often in the client’s best interest to just include the value of the diamonds in the piece of jewelry’s overall weight, rather than face the labor expense of removing these diamonds and purchasing them as a separate lot.

For diamonds, it is our goal and intention to have you meet with a Graduate Gemologist and to be able to make you an offer while you wait. In many cases though, even with our team of Graduate Gemologists, it will take up to 72 hours for our team to properly assess and make an offer. In very rare cases it may take longer than 72 hours and the head of our estate buying department will be in constant communication with you if for some reason this is case.

For the vast majority (99% of the time), no, there is no cost for this service and Tapper’s Gold Exchange provides gold buying services free of charge. In very rare cases, when guests would like for us to evaluate large estates (over 3 hours of evaluation time), we do charge an hourly fee of $250. However, if the guest proceeds with selling Tapper’s Gold Exchange the estate, then the $250/hr fee is waived for the guest.

Lending is only available at our Novi (8 Mile & Haggerty) location.
Tapper’s Gold Exchange at Twelve Oaks only buys gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, coins, estate jewelry, and timepieces but does not offer lending or insurance appraisals. Loans are limited to our Novi location.
At this time, loans are limited to our Novi (8 Mile & Haggerty) location. You may visit our locations in West Bloomfield, Troy, Novi at Haggerty, Shelby Township, Macomb, Milford, Grosse Pointe, and Novi at Twelve Oaks to buy or sell gold, estate jewelry, and timepieces.
Payments can be made at any time during the loan or paid all at once at time of pickup, but must be paid prior to the end of the 90 days in order to maintain ownership of your pledge/pawn. Only cash payments will be accepted.
At the end of the 90 days, if the principal and interest are unpaid, ownership of the pledged item will be transferred to Tapper’s Gold Exchange. If the interest has been paid, we can offer you a renewal, which extends your loan for another 90 days.
The value of your item is calculated based on the current market value.
Tapper’s Gold Exchange accepts several types of personal assets as collateral for your loan, including fine jewelry, gold & precious metals, diamonds, gemstones, and timepieces.
